Case Studies
SIP, established in 1983, has investigated over 50,000 cases with remarkably successful outcomes for our clients. Due to the high volume of cases and confidentiality reasons, we have only showcased a few cases that have been published in the media or where we have client consent, serving as a general demonstration of our capabilities.
Case #1 – RAIDER ATTACK RESULTING IN STOLEN BANK SHARES
Engaged in a major investigation and intelligence operation related to ‘Raider Attacks,’ which led to the recovery of the client’s shares in a Moldavian Bank. Our investigation identified the perpetrators, the complex network of offshore entities, evidence of falsified documentation, and the names of corrupt government officials involved. As a result of our efforts, the client regained their shares in the bank and recovered millions of euros.
Case #2 – EXTORTIONIST DEMANDING US $100,000,000 IDENTIFIED
A client approached us facing extortion demands of US $100 million after a threat to publicly disclose private information. Our cyber forensic work, intricate intelligence gathering, and covert surveillance led to the identification of the three racketeers involved. We collaborated with an international law firm to develop a legal strategy that included a settlement agreement. We then coordinated simultaneous covert dawn raids on their homes, where each extortionist was given the choice to cooperate or face our investigation files being handed over to the police. The extortionists, fearing arrest, complied with our requests. They signed a settlement agreement and received a nominal €1,000 payment. They were barred from revealing any information and had to permit us access to their residences and workplaces for searches and the seizure of all relevant materials. Our ongoing analysis of all seized data storage devices ensures long-term protection for the client against further threats.
Case #3 – UK PROPERTY SCAM
Our investigation centred on a UK property development firm that targeted clients in the Middle East, leading to significant financial losses from false property ownership claims. Our detailed inquiry uncovered that the orchestrator of the scam had previously been involved in a £300 million property fraud. We also discovered that the client’s funds were unlawfully transferred through entities in the UK and offshore tax havens, indicating misconduct and bolstering their claim for damages.
Case #4 – £80,000 IN HIDDEN ASSETS FOUND
SIP was engaged in a high-net-worth matrimonial financial settlement case where the husband concealed assets worldwide through a complex network of offshore entities across multiple jurisdictions and granted power of attorney to an associate. Our investigation, which involved cyber intelligence, forensic accountancy, and several months of surveillance, uncovered assets valued at over £80 million. Consequently, our client secured a judgment of £20 million, the UK matrimonial home, and other financial benefits such as legal costs, maintenance, and interest on the judgment. The solicitor and head of chambers praised our expertise and report, stating that the results achieved would not have been possible without our assistance.
Case #5 – $500,000 INVESTMENT SCAM
We were involved in an international investment fraud case where a client lost over $500,000. Our cyber investigations and undercover work uncovered a network of Nigerian fraudsters, some of whom were in Dubai. We collaborated closely with Dubai Police and arranged a pretext meeting that led to the arrest of several Nigerians, who, in addition to our client, were involved in defrauding millions of dollars from innocent people.
Case #6 – DEFENCE TO CHARGES OF IMPORTING 20 KILO OF COCAINE
A UK solicitor sought our assistance in gathering evidence for their client’s defence. The client, owner of a bonded warehouse, was charged with illegally importing over 20 kilograms of cocaine and other contraband. Our review and assessment of the evidence, cross-referenced with the client’s statements and subsequent remarks about their activities, uncovered several areas that required further detailed investigations. This included an in-depth analysis of mobile phone call logs, forensic analysis of mobile network cell site data, and reconstruction of the events leading up to and during the raids on the warehouse. We collected witness statements and other substantial evidence that ultimately led the Court to find the client ‘not guilty’.
Case #7 – EXTROTION DEMAND FOR $20 MILLION
SIP handled a case involving an extortion demand of US $20 million against a high-net-worth individual, who was threatened with the public disclosure of their private life. The client was reluctant to involve law enforcement due to concerns about media leaks. Our goal was to gather evidence against the suspected perpetrator and determine if they acted alone or had an accomplice. Through cyber forensics and covert surveillance, we collected enough evidence to confirm not only the suspect’s involvement but also that of the suspect’s husband, who was the main instigator of the extortion. SIP collaborated with a law firm instructed by the client to prepare a settlement agreement that prohibited information disclosure, allowed access to the perpetrators’ residences, and authorised the seizure of all relevant material. After the seizure, SIP continued forensic analysis of the data storage devices to provide long-term protection for the client.
Case #8 – BANK FRAUD OF $240 MILLON
Following instructions from a bank, SIP participated in investigating the highly publicised case of Foutanga Dit Babani Sissoko, who defrauded Dubai Islamic Bank of over US$240 million. Our investigation traced millions of dollars across various bank accounts linked to Sissoko and identified assets purchased with the fraud proceeds worldwide, including private aircraft, property, and other valuable assets.
These cases showcase SIP’s expertise in conducting complex international investigations. No matter the nature of the investigation, clients can depend on SIP to meet their goals effectively and efficiently.
